Our Vision
Lancer Select is a competitive girls basketball program founded by Lannie Vance in 2015. The program is build on developing fundamentals and skills as well as modeling good character, sportsmanship on and off the court.
Lancer Select is here to build up strong, courageous, young ladies to be successful in all aspects of life. Individual skill development as well as teamwork creates an opportunity for success. Our coaching staff shares in this vision and will provide a cohesive learning environment for all players.
Our Coaches
Lannie Vance – Lancer Select Founder
Lannie Vance grew up in Canton, IL. Lannie attended Canton High where she played volleyball, basketball and softball. She graduated in 1990. 1990-94 she attended Illinois State University. Lannie started coaching basketball during the summer of 1991, where she coached summer ball for her high school team. Lannie lived in Bloomington, IL for 9 years then moved to St. Louis for 3 years and Colorado for 2 years. Lannie and her family moved to the Roselle area in 2002 where she found her coaching home for the next 13 years at Trinity Lutheran Church/School. 2003 -2005 she coached the 6th grade girls program. 2006 she assisted the 7th & 8th grade program. 2007-2016 she was the head coach for the 7th & 8th girls program as well as running their summer basketball camp. Lannie also spent about 10 years coaching youth soccer and 3 years of softball. In 2014 Lannie worked with Coach Rupp, Varsity girls coach at Lake Park to create a feeder program for 3rd-8th grade.
Coach Vance joined the Lake Park Coaching staff in fall 2016 as the Sophomore/JV2 head coach. She is very excited to have the opportunity to work at this level and to be a part of working with these young athletes and making a difference in their lives on and off the court. Lannie also works at Lake Park as a floor monitor.
Dave Vance
Coach Dave Vance grew up in Itasca and played basketball at St Lukes and Lake Park. Dave was a 3 year varsity player and continued to play at Division 1 Eastern Illinois where he was a 3 year starter. Dave has coached boys and girls for the past 20 years at various grade school and high school travel teams.
The Vance children have all competed at a high level in sports. Jacob was a Div 1 Swimmer at UWGreenBay. Connor a 3 year varsity player led Lake Park to a record 25 wins and it’s first ever Sectional Championship. Bailey followed as a 2 year varsity player and is currently a starting forward at Div 3 Aurora University. Carson, a 4 year varsity girls player and 1000 point scorer and is playing at Div 2 UofI in Springfield.
When they have the time Dave & Lannie love traveling to Colorado where they enjoy hiking and biking. They have enjoyed coaching and watching their children compete over the years as well as spending time with them playing good old fashioned board games and card games. The Vance family enjoys competition on and off the court
Coach Kelsey
Coach Kelsey Madaj grew up in Elk Grove, IL. Kelsey attended Conant High School where she played volleyball, basketball, and soccer. She graduated in 2010 and attended Pepperdine University in the always warm and sunny California. This was a big transition for Kelsey’s athletic life as she was no longer involved in organized sports aside from a few intramural games here and there. She coaches soccer at Lake Park High School and is excited to begin working with the Lancer Select basketball program.
Coach Kelsey lives in Roselle with her husband, Brian. They enjoy spending time outdoors, drinking coffee, and playing board games. Their dream is to one day live in a tiny home.
